Web Hacking Exposed

As with any major undertaking on par with the complexity of Hacking Exposed: Windows, there are inevitably errors and omissions that occur. This page is dedicated to tracking the serious errors that affect our readers' experience with the book.

The following are corrections to the 1st printing of Hacking Exposed: Windows and prior editions. If you do not see these errors, that may be because you have a subsequent printing where many of these corrections may have already been made. To determine which printing you have, consult the information on the first pages of the book (copyright, etc.). You should find a number that looks like this:

1234567890 CUS CUS 01987654321

If the first number is a 1, then it is the first printing. If the first number is a 2, it is the second printing, and so on.

To submit errors, please email [joel at winhackingexposed dot com].

Each correction is listed by page number of the first printing on the far left.

Errata from the Second Edition (Windows Server 2003)

341 -- We incorrectly note that the Terminal Server Advanced Client (TSAC) cannot be redirected to use alternate Terminal Server ports. This is actually possible by editing the connect.asp file in the /TSWeb directory and inserting the following line before the connect method:

MsTsc.AdvancedSettings2.RDPPort = XXXXX

where XXXX is the port you want to connect to. Thanks to Erik "theStyle" Birkholz for pointing this out.
